The Visitor's View

What a visitor sees in each tab of the widget - Home, Messages, Help, News and Profile

The widget opens as a panel with a bottom bar of tabs. Which tabs a visitor sees depends on the switches you set in the Widget settings. With only one tab on, the bar disappears.

Home

Home is the start page. It shows the greeting, then the blocks you arranged: quick actions, help search, pinned articles, latest news, team status, a recent message and more. Team status reads We're online or We're away, back soon, with how fast you usually reply. Each block is set up in Home.

Messages

Messages lists the visitor's conversations, and a new one starts from Ask a question. See Conversations & threads.

The composer lets a visitor type, add an emoji, attach a file, record a voice message and pick a GIF or sticker. A file can be up to 10 MB. Too large a file shows File is too large (max 10MB), and an unsupported type shows This file type isn't supported. While the AI assistant prepares an answer, the visitor sees thinking…, and typing… when an operator writes.

Help

Help is a searchable knowledge base. The visitor types in Search for help or browses collections and opens an article. At the end of an article they can answer Was this helpful? with Yes or No, and Still need help? Message us opens a conversation. An article not yet translated shows This article isn't available in your language yet. Content comes from your Help center.

News

News lists your announcements, newest first, with Search news and an unread marker. A post can end with Was this article helpful?, and Read the original appears for a post imported from an external source. Content comes from your News posts.

Profile

Profile (titled Your profile) lets a visitor edit the fields you chose in Profile fields, then Save changes or Discard. A field a sign-in proof already carries shows Not editable. The visitor can also Change photo and set three preferences:

PreferenceWhat it does
LanguageThe widget's language.
Desktop notificationsA system notification when the widget is not focused. The browser must allow it.
ThemeMatch system, Light or Dark, unless you locked the theme.
